We’re the Ice under Colonel’s Boots
Originally by Yegor Letov, translation by Dmitry Borodaenko
They are not familiar with pain
They are not familiar with death
They are not familiar with fear
Of standing alone against a grubby wall
The colonel is coming, he would smother them all
He is stomping his boots, but he slips and he falls
And we’re the ice under colonel’s boots!
They are quick to laugh and their eyes are so bright
Vulnerable and in love with life
They have been together since the dawn of time
They are the last of us who remember the light
And we’ve got nothing, every one of us dies
And all we can do is turn into ice
But we’re the ice under colonel’s boots!
When I am with them I don’t feel like I’m dying
Their arms are open and their words are flowers
Their breath is green grass and they don’t care
And the colonel is coming to eradicate them
They will never accept us into their world
But the colonel slips and the colonel falls
’Cause we’re the ice under colonel’s boots!
There will be ice on the ground while we are around
And all the colonels will keep falling down
’Cause we’re the ice under colonels’ boots!
